Back in August rumors surfaced that DC may very much get its very own TOPSHOP. And the thought of our favorite London born and New York stationed fast-fashion mecca being within reach, had us instantly salivating like one of Pavlov's Dogs. Did I hear a bell?
So is it true? And if so, when and where? Well ring that bell because YES, it's true! Get excited, salivate a little, but don't over do it because instead of downtown DC as originally hoped, TOPSHOP will find a home in the Springfield Town Center by mid-October. Springfield? But isn't that in Virginia?
For NoVa residents or for those who don't mind a little traffic, TOPSHOP will certainly be within reach. But for us metro riding, city folk, looks like we will have to suck it up and take a day trip on the Blue line. Or maybe just stick to SoHo, NYC.
This Government Shutdown is really putting a dull damper on things, especially when it comes to all the gold from the Art of Byzantium from Greek Collections exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. This exhibit, which gives you a glimpse into the gilded life of the Byzantines in the 13th century, will thankfully be featured through March 2, 2014, so hopefully that will give Congress plenty of time to get their shit together.
Archangel Michael, First half 14th century tempera on wood, gold leaf overall: 110 x 80 cm (43 5/16 x 31 1/2 in.)
Byzantine and Christian Museum, Athens
The glamorous life of the Byzantines continues to influence our lives today as a version of this ornate lifestyle was represented in the Fall 2013 Dolce & Gabbana runway show. But to make things current, rich colors, embellished gowns and beautiful bobbles were this time made for a concrete jungle kind of empress.
On Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, The Art of Fashion will host The Fashion of Goodwill Runway Show & Gala. Students from the Elizabeth Seton High School will feature their designs inspired by the Goodwill Mission.
Each ticket includes one fashion show general admission seat, access to the trunk show, cocktail reception and heavy hors d’oeuvres, access to gallery exhibits, and free parking in attached garage.
