With that said, there is no need to be walking around in a city with these boots on... and to make it worse, why do girls like to wear them with either shorts or dresses?! The boots alone are bad enough- they really should be called ‘cankle boots’ because the only thing they're good for is making your leg look all one-size from calf-to-ankle.
This frequent fashion offender is characterized by its pointed toe, high-angled heel and tall boot shaft. More often than not this style has some sort of ugly pattern on the side, and has two "help me pull this boot over my cankle loops" on the top.
This boot has a cowboy feel but due to its rounded toe, squared-off heel and mid-calf length shaft, it is not nearly as awful as its cousin, the Western. Frye actually offers a great version: the mid-calf Engineer Boot (the strap w/buckle across the top of the foot helps define the ankle, therefore avoiding the 'cankle' look). Instead of shorts… pair with skinny jeans or leggings.
